theOneliner.com Podcast
theOneliner.com crew corral the latest U.K. film releases into an enclosed area and unleash some fact bombs. Join Craig Eastman, Scott Morris and Drew Tavendale as they turn their acerbic, jaundiced collective eye on some of the hottest new films.
Back again, with the full crew assembled to talk around Whatever Works, She's Out Of My League, The A-Team, Predators and Inception.
Drew and Scott talk about The Secret In Their Eyes and If I Want To Whistle, I Whistle, and have a little post-mortem on the best and worst of the fest.
In this instalment we look at Northless, Get Low, Restrepo and My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done.
It's another EIFF 2010 podcast from theOneliner.com! In this instalment we look at Cigarette Girl, The Robber, The Good Heart, Skeletons, Third Star, and The Kid.
More from the EIFF, as Scott and Drew cast wild aspersions on Cherry Tree Lane, Mai Mai Miracle, Snowman's Land, Jackboots On Whitehall, brilliantlove, Barry Munday, and Obselidia.
It's the most wonderful time of the year again, as theOneliner pass judgement on the best and not so best of the EdFilmFest. Up for discussion are The People vs. George Lucas, Kick Off, Evil in the Time of Heroes, Chase the Slut, Road to Las Vegas, World's Greatest Dad, Boy, Two Eyes Staring and The Illusionist.
An unusual, or at least far greater than usual, air of levity settles on the virtual broadcast studios of theOneliner.com as we turn our attention to Lebanon, Cop Out and Fish Story.
The usual crew of miscreants return to cast the very wildest of aspersions on the delights of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, The Losers and Robin Hood. Who will survive this critical armageddon?
Your genial hosts return for a sideways glance at the delights of Iron Man 2, Four Lions, The Disappearance of Alice Creed and The Sky Crawlers. Well, two of them do, at least. We might be a man down, but that's not going to stop us spouting out opinions like a broken opinion hydrant, whatever that is.
It's that time of the month when we put a podcast out, which can only mean that it's the time of the month to put a podcast out. This time round the crew deal with Repo Men, Cemetery Junction, Whip It and Extract. Remember, the first rule of tautology club is the first rule of tautology club.
Some jaunts away from homebase, by which I mean my flat, not the chain of home improvement stores, resulted in a slight delay for this podcast. Terribly sorry, but as a result we've got a good ol' whack of films to riff on. This time round the crew deal with The Blind Side, The Bounty Hunter, Kick-Ass, Clash of the Titans and How To Train Your Dragon. Boffo!
It's time for another podcast with theOneliner.com crew, laying some truth out on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Survival of the Dead and Legion. Are any of the flicks worthy of your time? Find out in this thrilling episode.
The gang's all here! Be afraid. Be very afraid. This ain't no chick flick. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll hurl. This might hurt a little. Join theOneliner.com chaps as they examine the intricacies of Green Zone, Crazy Heart and Shutter Island. The horror ...the horror.
This podcast thing is almost becoming a regular feature. Who'd have thought it? This time round, we line up Alice in Wonderland, The Shinjuku Incident, Chloe and Case 39 and question them most rigorously indeed.
We promise that we have covered at least one good film in this recording. Why not place bets on our opinions? William Hill is probably still open. On the betting slips this time round are The Lovely Bones, From Paris With Love, The Crazies, Thirst and Ponyo. Who will emerge victorious from the Thunderdome?
As a matter of fact, we're back. Lined up for a relentless beating with a Coutts-brand Truth Revelation Pole this time around are The Edge of Darkness, Youth In Revolt, The Book of Eli, Invictus, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll and 44 Inch Chest.
Some good films, some acceptable films and some culinary tragedies on this instalment of the podcast. The Road, Up In The Air, Daybreakers and Ninja Assassin are thrown into the harsh light of our steely glare as we tackle the first batch of films that 2KX throws in our general direction.
It's still reasonably close to the year's end, so now that the dust has settled it's time to look back at the best and worst films that 2009 threw in our general direction. A tremendous year for film, it should be said. As such we have an absolute raft of movies to talk about, making this our longest podcast yet. Which I suppose could be a negative, depending on how sick you are of our voices.
Time to mix things up. Think of this as a rebirth. Or, at least, an attempt at getting podcasts and reviews out a bit more regularly. The first solo outing sees Scott Morris bust out some undiluted truth on Jennifer's Body, Law Abiding Citizen, An Education and The Box. It's only mildly disastrous, so that's a bonus.
We're a man down for this episode, but that's not going to stop us rampaging across the cinematic landscape like a curiously culturally aware dinosaur. We dole out the truth on The Informant!, Harry Brown, Fantastic Mr. Fox, This Is It, Ong-Bak 2, 9, The Men Who Stare at Goats, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and A Serious Man. Phew!
Quick turnabout for our landmark fiftieth episode, as arbitrary round numbers must be landmarks, although we're really still playing catch-up. This time round we take a butcher's hook at Pixar's latest, Up, along with Surrogates and the duelling 'land' movies, Zombieland and Adventureland.
Returning after a series of unfortunate technical and scheduling issues, we're back casting an increasingly jaded eye on Gamer, Dorian Gray, Sorority Row, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, The Final Destination and The Invention of Lying.
Hey, hey, hey, children! It's time for more film updates from the depths of the Capital Wastelands, as we take a break from obsessing over Fallout 3 to bring you our views on District 9, (500) Days of Summer, Funny People and The Hurt Locker. Not a bad bunch of films, if we do say so ourselves.
In a radical departure from the norm, we are going to talk about some films. It's this variety that keeps our relationship so full of pep, zim, and vinegar. Or something. On the chopping board this time round we have Quentin Tarantino's latest, Inglourious Basterds, The Time Traveler's Wife, Mesrine Part 2: Public Enemy #1, The Proposal and some toy advert called G.I. Joe. Bon appetit.
We line up the fact-cannon and unleash bolts of pure truth upon Land of the Lost, The Taking of Pelham 123, Mesrine Part 1: Death Instinct and Harry Potter again. Just to make sure it's been sufficiently fact-bolted.
Right, better get back to the grindstone of the multiplex and review some "proper" films after all of this Edinburgh Film Festival Festival nonsense. We have a bit of a natter about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Public Enemies, Looking For Eric, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Bruno, Ice Age 3 and The Hangover.
Well, slap me with a haddock and call me Gerald! It's the last podcast from the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2009! Five films covered, with more dross than we're used to. Scott and Drew drop fact bombs on The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life, Wasted, The Calling, Jalainur and Wide Open Spaces.
Well, yank my crankhandle! It's another podcast from the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2009! Five films covered, with a forty percent zombie hit-rate. What more could you want? Scott and Drew cover Stella, Pontypool, Adam, Romeo and Juliet vs. The Living Dead, and Giallo.
Gosh, golly, zounds and hellzapoppin! We've got another EIFF podcast for your delectation! Join Drew and Scott as they take aim at a massive eight films, including the controversial Antichrist, Fish Tank, The Girlfriend Experience, Breathless, Running in Traffic, The Missing Person, Salvage, and Le Donk and Scor-zay-zee.
Hey, check it out! More coverage from the EIFF! This time around we're looking at Follow the Master, Exam, The Architect, Moon, and Goodbye, How Are You?. Allow Scott and Drew to fill you in on the merits or otherwise of these film-me-dos.
Good grief. We've only been here at the EIFF '09 for two days, and yet we've got ten films to talk about. Draw up a comfy chair and allow Drew and Scott to give you the low-downs on Fear Me Not, The Last Heroes of the Peninsula, Little Soldier, Easier With Practice, Pardon My French, Rule #1, Harmony and Me, Terribly Happy, Van Diemen's Land, and Mary and Max. Phew.
Howdy again, people! This time around we are talking about films! What a stunning departure from the norm! We cover the wondrous delights emanating from Terminator Salvation, Fighting, Fermat's Room and Drag Me To Hell. I can't promise you'll like it, but I am reasonably confident of it.
Ah. There you are. So nice to see you. If you'd care to pull up a chair and audio playback tool of your choice, I suppose we can make a start of dissecting the merits or otherwise of Star Trek, Angels and Demons, Coraline and Synecdoche, New York. The results will be most elucidating, I promise.
It's time for another one of these there podcast things and stuff. We cover X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Uninvited, State of Play, Outlander and Observe and Report. It'll be a hoot, we promise. Just the one hoot, mind. Do not listen expecting multiple hoots.
Hello once again, listeners! A densely packed shambles this weeks as we eventually manage to cover, in some form or another, Fast 'n' Furious, Dragonball Evolution, I Love You, Man, Fifty Dead Men Walking, Let The Right One In, In The Loop and Crank: High Voltage.
After struggling to find movies interesting enough to watch over the past month we return with reviews of Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Knowing, Marley and Me, The Unborn, Monsters vs Aliens and The Damned United. And beer.
We return after an unfortunate absence, which loads of reviews. Packed with recommendations, we quickly tidy up those we've missed by saying that you ought to make time in your life for Frost/Nixon, Milk, JCVD, Valkyrie and Che: Part One, all of which are great, and discuss in more depth The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which we're less impressed with and The International, which is just a little too dull and slowly paced to be recommended. Gran Torino, is a tremendously enjoyable note for him to step away from acting, and Watchmen proves to be a tremendous adaptation of the graphic novel and another one for the Film of the Year shortlists.
For the first batch of new films of 2009 we discuss an overall somewhat disappointing bunch of films, given their reputations. No surprise that Twilight wasn't any good, but the undeniable fact that The Reader was worse than that is surprising. Defiance and Seven Pounds aren't bad films at all, but we struggle to enthuse over them. Thankfully, an excellent combination of performances, direction and sharp observation in The Wrestler saves the show, giving us an early contender for Film of the Year.
We take a look back at our top ten movies of 2008, reel off a number of honourable mentions in what we feel has been a pretty good year to be a film fan. We also name, shame, point and laugh at the worst the year has thrown at us.
Let's take a gander at Four Christmases, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Dean Spanley and Lakeview Terrace.
We bust our moves on My Best Friend's Girl, Transporter 3, Changeling, Body Of Lies and Choke.

By the stars! It's our take on RocknRolla, Bangkok Dangerous, The Strangers, Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, The Chaser and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time!

We give you the lowdown on I Am Legend, The Golden Compass, Balls Of Fury, Bee Movie and Enchanted, of which only one is any good at all. Ah well.
In a bumper episode we each run down our top ten films of 2007, and set about the least worthy films with big sticks.
A look at our favourite and recent westerns, taking in Unforgiven, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Open Range amongst others.
More top ten action, featuring reviews of Good Luck Chuck, Shrooms, Beowulf, American Gangster, Rescue Dawn and Lions For Lambs. Mmm, succulent.
Weekly podcasts? Madness. Up for somewhat disjointed discussion this week, Planet Terror, Control, The Counterfeiters, Death at A Funeral, Into The Wild and 30 Days of Night.
Another top ten rundown, taking in our thoughts on Sicko, Eastern Promises, Dark is Rising, Rendition, Stardust and Saw 4. It's not only dope, it's crazy dope. Word, yo.
It's Halloween! Well, near enough. To celebrate this ghoulish time, we take a look at three of the horrowshows clogging up cinematic arteries, Resident Evil 3, Black Sheep and, apropriately enough, Halloween. All this in addition to the top ten rundown? Madness.
On the first installment of the podcast Craig, Drew and Scott bludgeon their way through the current top ten UK cinema releases, reviewing as they go. Featuring discussions of Harry Potter, Transformers, Hallam Foe and Knocked Up, amongst others.
