Gosh! It's that time again! What time? Hammer Time! Sorry. No. Not Hammer Time. Podcast Time. We turn our attention towards Splice, Shrek Forever After, Gainsbourg (Vie heroique), The Karate Kid and Toy Story 3. I apologise for the podcast title.

Genetic engineering goes awry! Who'd have thunk it, etc. Splice uses the dangers of "playing god with genes" to basically redux Frankenstein. Badly. Laughable stuff, and I'd expect better of Vincenzo Natali.

Shrek Forever After is basically more Shrek, but better Shrek than Shrek 3. Which isn't saying much, admittedly. In the grand scheme of things while it's an above average film, there's better options out there more worthy of your time, including one in this podcast.

Gainsbourg (Vie heroique) covers the eventful life of Serge Gainsbourg in imaginative, idiosyncratic style. Not much point recapping a biopic, but I'll say this - it proved interesting and compelling to someone with zero interest in the man, so it's definitely doing something right.

The Karate Kid sees Jackie Chan training Jaden Smith in a movie that's one location shift to China away from being a scene for scene remake of the '84 cheeseball classic. Pointlessness aside, the only real problem with it is Jaden Smith, who's just a little too dull to pull this off.

There is no point saying much about Toy Story 3, as you've probably already seen it. If you haven't, you should, because it's fabulous.

That is all for now. We'll be back sometime soon, so until then keep your nose clean and if you can't be good, be lucky.
